Statement of Significant Interest
Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), National Public Radio (NPR), and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) have a significant interest in the outcome of the proceeding as CPB-supported NPR-member public radio stations, CPB-supported PBS-member public television stations, producers, and distributors rely on the Section 118 license for the musical compositions included in their broadcast programming. They have done so since Section 118 of the Copyright Act was enacted. Each of the Public Broadcasting Entities represented herein is a non-profit or a governmental entity committed to serving a noncommercial, educational purpose. The programming they freely make available to the American people is educational in nature.
