Petition to participate

The Music Artists Coalition ("MAC") is a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights and advancing the interests of music creators, including both performing artists and songwriters. Founded in 2019, MAC serves as an independent voice for working musicians on matters of copyright, compensation, and creative control. MAC's membership includes prominent recording artists, songwriters, and music creators whose musical works are licensed under Section 115 of the Copyright Act. MAC advocates for fair compensation and equitable treatment of music creators in all revenue streams, including mechanical royalties distributed through streaming services. MAC's affiliated creators have a direct and significant interest in the mechanical royalty rates that will be established for the 2028-2032 period, as these rates fundamentally impact their ability to earn a sustainable living from their creative work. MAC seeks to participate in this proceeding to ensure that the interests of working songwriters are fully represented in the rate-setting process. Accordingly, MAC respectfully requests permission to participate in the Phonorecords V proceeding.
